FAST (Freshmen Academic Success Track) for Summer 2014

The FAST program, required for all students that need English and/or Math remediation, will provide you with the tools and resources you need to embark upon a successful college journey. The FAST program is mandatory. You must attend and complete the FAST Program in order to enroll in fall classes.   The following information will help you prepare.

Program Dates

July 8 – August 7


You will fill out a registration card the day of the information session (please see below). With that, the campus Registrar will register you in classes for the FAST Program.  You may view your schedule online on your WebPortal at  Your summer enrollment will consist of 3 or 6 units, depending on your remediation needs.


The cost of the FAST Program will be $1,190 for 3 units or $1,616 for 6 units. 
This fee must be paid by June 25, 2014 (unless you will receive financial aid).

Financial Aid

If you have submitted a FAFSA, meet a specific estimated family contribution (EFC), and are eligible for Financial Aid, the summer State University Grant will cover the cost of summer school partially. You will have to pay the remaining balance, plus books and supplies. The day of the information session, you will receive detailed information.

You must attend the information session to be held on June 18, 2014.  Your parents are encouraged to attend. We will have a Spanish presentation from 5-6 pm and an English presentation from 6-7 pm.  These sessions will take place in Room N-101.

Registration will take place in the Art Gallery starting at 4:30pm.

Here is why you must attend:

•You will learn about what is expected of you as a FAST Program student.
•You will learn about the courses you will be taking, required books, financial aid, the process of paying fees, academic expectations, and student success
•You will meet faculty and staff who are here to support you.  Staff from the financial aid office from the San Diego Campus will be available to answer any questions you might have with regards to financial aid.
•You will complete your registration card that day.
